CULLMAN COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A 22-year-old man from Cullman is facing negligence and abuse charges in connection to his 13-month-old son's drowning death.

B.J. Bryant was arrested on Tuesday, April 30 on aggravated abuse and criminally negligent homicide charges relating to the death of his young son, Chief Deputy Max Bartlett with the Cullman County Sheriff's Office confirms.

Nearly a year ago, on May 21, 2012, officers responded to a call reporting a small child who was unresponsive after taking bath.

Emergency workers attempted to revive the baby, who was then taken to Cullman Regional Medical Center's ER. The baby was later transported by helicopter to Children's of Alabama hospital, where he was placed on life support and died the following week.

Bryant was charged in his son's death based on the conditions authorities found at the scene and the home. He is being held in the Cullman County Detention Center on a $36,000 cash bond.
