TALLADEGA COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

The Talladega County Coroner's Office confirms that they are working on a child death investigation.

Investigators were called to a home on Pecanwood Drive near the Talladega-Calhoun County line Friday morning. The two-year-old was transported to Anniston Regional Medical Center and later pronounced dead.

The grandfather of the young boy didn't want to go to camera but tells FOX6 News that under the circumstances, his family is doing OK.

Several neighbors spoke with FOX6 News, sharing their shock.

"Just knowing that it happened to one of my neighbors really makes my heart go out to them," Tony Davis said.

Talladega County Coroner Shaddix Murphy says it appears that the child was having a seizure when Oxford EMS arrived at the home between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. Friday. The coroner's office says they are working with Oxford police and the Talladeag DA in the investigation because the part of Oxford where the boy lived is in Talladega County.

The cause of death is unknown at this time. Murphy says an autopsy is scheduled and his office should have results next week.
