BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Closing schools will be the big issue for Birmingham school leaders on Tuesday.

Birmingham's school board will meet to consider closing Norwood Elementary School and combining it with Lewis Elementary. The board will also vote on folding Jackson Elementary into Hemphill and changing Jones Valley from a K-8 school into a middle school.

All of these moves are part of the state's cost-cutting plan.
