Millions of dollars have been approved for Tuscaloosa's road to recovery and now, the city's action plan is heading to the feds for approval.
The Tuscaloosa City Council voted to spend the $48 million on infrastructure, housing and commercial development to aid in the recovery from April 27.
Rosedale Court housing for seniors will get $2 million. Mayor Walt Maddox calls it another milestone for the city.
"We still got some time before we actually see some dirt moving, probably some time in 2014. But tonight was an important hurdle and it's just another step closer to robust recovery," he said.
The next step is for the city to submit its action plan to HUD this month and wait for approval. If it is approved, work on the projects could begin in winter 2014.
