For the second time in less than a month, workers at an east Birmingham spa are busted on prostitution charges.
The Birmingham Police Vice Squad raided the Bali Spa on Parkway East Wednesday night and now, four women are facing prostitution charges:
-Eun Hug Heo, 38, was charged with soliciting for prostitution.
-Kyoung Hee Yoo, 34 of Brooklyn, New York, was charged with residing in a house of prostitution.
-Xingyue Xu, 36, was charged with residing in a house of prostitution.
-Chong Ok LeBlanc, 59, was charged with operating a house of prostitution.
The spa was also raided April 19. Five people were arrested that day including four female workers and a male customer.
"The best thing that can happen is get it exposed," Don Hadden, Vice President of the Huffman Neighborhood Association, said.
Hadden has lived here for 30 years and says he's seen the area decline. Hearing of the busts is troubling to him.
"It's bad enough businesses don't want to be here," Hadden said. "But what would make it worse if it gets out prostitution is going on."
FOX6 News drove back to the spa Thursday and the business was open again. Police say that after the April bust, someone was able to obtain a license for the spa to reopen. FOX6 News asked several officials how this could happen but we were unable to get a clear answer.
Hadden hopes that somehow the business can be shut down for good.
"So we would like them to get their license revoked and it would be another empty building but that would better than having that there," Hadden said.
Police say if they continue receiving tips about this business, they will keep raiding it. The issue of the Bali Spa is on the city council's agenda for next week.
