BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

An Oxford man accused of killing a 2-year-old boy talked today for the first time since being charged with capital murder.

Bryan Butts is charged in the death of Coby Allen Rollins, but Butts says he is innocent. Butts appeared in a Talladega courtroom Friday morning for his arraignment. The judge read the charges against him and informed Butts of his rights.

Butts was engaged to Coby Rollins' mom, Sandy. Last Friday, police found Coby unresponsive inside a home on Pecanwood Drive. The coroner says the boy died of blunt force trauma.

After his court appearance this morning, Butts told the media he was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

"I guess everyone is trying to accuse me because, I guess they thought I was the last one seen with her," said Butts.

Butts is being held without bond.
