Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue Service donated a fire truck today to the next generation of first responders.
The gift allows students at the new Tuscaloosa Career and Technology Academy to learn what it takes to become a firefighter.
The school starts a course in public safety and law next year. The donated truck will help students train to fight fires or be EMTs.
"They don't have to wait around to schedule it to come to school. It's here and it's for them and this also gives them a sense of public pride in their program," Principal Kathleen Hughston said.
So far, 113 students have registered for the fall semester of the public safety course.
