A prom scheduled for this weekend in Birmingham is about 50 years overdue.
The city of Birmingham is hosting a prom for the class of 1963. Many high school proms were canceled or delayed that year, because of all of the unrest surrounding the Civil Rights Movement.
The city hopes to make things right this Friday at the Boutwell Auditorium. Alumni from about ten formerly called "colored" high schools at that time are coming together with the help put on the event.
