EL PASO COUNTY, CO (WAFF) -

First Lieutenant Aaron Gregory Lucas had an arraignment hearing in Colorado on Thursday.

The judge set his trial date for January 6, 2014.

One month was set aside for the trial and motions hearings before the trial.

Lucas was arrested in Colorado on kidnapping and sex abuse charges in October of 2012. When authorities ran his DNA through the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), they got a match in Madison, Alabama for the 2007 sexual assault of a 6-year-old child and also one in Texarkana, Texas linking him to a 2009 aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault.

He faces two charges in El Paso County related to 7 and 9-year-old children.

He will be tried in Colorado before he is extradited to Madison County, and it is anticipated an arrest warrant will be presented from Texarkana authorities as well.
