One of the two FBI agents who fell to his death during a counter terrorism training exercise last Friday part of the team that went in to rescue child hostage "Ethan" during the week-long Midland City, Alabama bunker standoff earlier 2013.
The New York Times reports that agent's name as Christopher Lorek.
Lorek and another special agent, Stephen Shaw, were rappelling from a helicopter onto the deck of a ship that was at sea when the chopper tilted in the wind and the two agents fell into the water.
The New York Times reports that Lorek provided support to the team that entered the bunker to rescue Ethan. During the operation, hostage taker Jimmy Lee Dykes was fatally wounded.
The Associated Press reports that it will likely be weeks before a formal cause of death is determined because the state medical examiner's regional office is waiting for toxicology results.
