CULLMAN, AL (WBRC) -

The city of Cullman is getting ready for its second annual Rock the South festival in a few weeks.

The two day music festival will be June 21 through June 22. The entertainment will include country music star Sara Evans on Friday night and Cullman native Bocephus himself, Hank Williams Jr., on Saturday night.

Cullman Mayor Max Townson says the city turned over this year's event to private promoters but the city hopes to benefit from it.

"It's new monies. If we have people come to this concert from Birmingham, Huntsville and Atlanta, the local hotels, they love heads in beds. That's another objective, to help our tourism," Mayor Townson said

Mayor Townson hopes the promoters turn it into a major music event on the same level as the June Jam was for Fort Payne.

Rock the South will be held at Heritage Park. For more details, go to http://www.rockthesouth.com.
