JEH JEH LIVE - A dynamic group of young professionals are raising money tonight to increase health outcomes for students attending Birmingham City Schools. The Young Professionals Board of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Center is going "all in" Friday, June 7 at 7:30 p.m. at their 5th Annual Casino Royale. This event has become one of the most popular social events in Birmingham for the young and young-at-heart professionals of all walks of life - all for the benefit of the Healthy Happy Kids program at Birmingham City Schools. The annual hors d'oeuvres and cocktail event, at WorkPlay in Birmingham, is open to the public and tickets are $65 until June 3 and $75 at the door. GOLFGALS & COCKTAILS
- Pro-golfer Kelly Villarreal joined us this morning with some pointers and details on how you can learn more about the game of golf and how women can use it for networking for business or social events! The Golfgals and Cocktails are golf clinics "designed by a woman and for a woman." These golf clinics for women are a great opportunity to unwind from a hard day at the office or from the kids for a day. Learn the basics of golf and afterwards win gifts like spa treatments, botox, and golf equipment! You can join in the clinics at Ross Bridge Resort and Spa on June 13th, June 27th, or July 11th. Clinics will be taught by Ross Bridge Instructor Neil Thompson and Pro-Golfer Kelly Villarreal. The morning Seminar 9:30am-12pm participants will tee off with morning mimosas and breakfast pastries followed by the Golf Clinic from 9:30am-11:30am. You can drop your kids off for free supervision and use of the pool while you golf. At 11:30 at the 19th hole there will be drawings for spa treatments, botox, and golf equipment. The Afternoon Seminar runs from 4:30pm-7pm and participants will tee  with a cocktail in hand. The golf clinic is from 4:30pm-6:30 pm. At  6:30 at the 19th hole there will be light hors d'oeuvres and drawings for spa treatments, botox, and golf equipment. The first clinic focuses on an introduction to golf and the equipment plus a putting a chipping lesson. The second clinic focuses on bunker and wedges and the third clinic focuses on the full swing. PROTECTING YOUR SMART PHONE - David Anderson from ProtectYourBubble.com joined us to show us how to protect our smart phones. Protect Your Bubble is a company that insures smartphones.  He discussed which phones are more breakable, how people lose phones the most common instances, and the most common ways consumers break phones- for example drop in the toilet. David even demonstrated the dunk test using a fish tank to show us how quickly a phone shuts down once it hits water.

CAPE GUY - Danny Ray met James Brown at the Apollo Theatre in New York in 1960. Originally from Birmingham, Ray was drafted into the military and, after being discharged, he moved to New York. Ray said he always knew he wanted to work in show business, so he decided to hang out where the action was. He met some people who worked for Brown, and Brown hired him to take care of the band. Soon afterward, Brown asked Ray if he'd like to work directly for him. Ray was Brown's valet, selected his wardrobe and helped him get dressed for shows.
