Alabama State troopers said one person has died after a wreck on I-65 and they are searching for a vehicle that left the scene.
A witness said a dark-colored pickup truck ran an SUV off the road around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday near the Alabama/Tennessee state line.
Four people were in the 2002 GMC Envoy. Three people were hurt, including a 10-year old girl. The fourth person, 69-year old James Shaddy, Jr., was killed. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
The other three victims, 44-year-old Jane Osgood, 10-year-old Grace Osgood and 72-year-old Mary Beck were treated and released.
The other vehicle involved in the wreck, a dark blue or black pickup, left the scene.
The passengers in the SUV were traveling home with a swim team based in Fayetteville, Tennessee. They were participating in a swim meet in Athens earlier that day.
The wreck is still under investigation. A witness to the wreck is offering a $1,000 reward to help find the driver of the vehicle that left the scene.
Troopers are looking for what witnesses described as a dark colored Chevy Silverado or Dodge Ram pickup which will have damage to the right side.
