BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Dr. George French, President of Miles College, has been nominated as the Historically Black College and Universities (HBCU) Male President of the Year.

"Dr. French is a tremendous example of innovative leadership with an eye towards community engagement and lasting impact for Fairfield, Birmingham and beyond," said Jarrett Carter Sr., Founding Editor of HBCUDigest.com and Director of The Center for HBCU Media Advocacy.

During his tenure, enrollment has increased, the historic entrance of Miles College has been renovated, and several new buildings have been built to better serve students.

The Annual HBCU Awards will take place Friday, June 28 at Jackson State University in Mississippi.
