Birmingham police are investigating a second shooting on the city's west side that happened Saturday.
Officers say the victim was shot around 4:50 p.m. on Cotton Avenue. The victim was taken to UAB Hospital, but later died as a result of his wound.
Police have not yet released the victim's identity. No one has been arrested or charged yet in the case.
The Cotton Avenue shooting happened minutes after officers were called to a shooting on Graymont Avenue.
Police said a 56-year-old man was shot while taking out the trash just before 5 p.m. Saturday evening. The victim was listed in stable condition at UAB.
The shootings are not believed to be connected.
