ALDOT officials have some good news about the major Highway 280 construction project.
They say that weather permitting, the portion of the project between I-459 and the Red Mountain Expressway will be completed August 5. The other portion, from I-459 south into Shelby County, is expected to be complete in November.
ALDOT contractors are busy installing lights at Brook Highland Parkway and Home Depot to allow motorists to make u-turns. The Highway 280 project has been controversial because several intersections will not have traffic lights after the work is complete. Instead, drivers will have to make u-turns to reach some shopping centers.
