BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A former Homewood middle school coach and elementary school special education aide has been sentenced for possessing child pornography.

A judge sentenced Joshua Statum, 26, of Pelham, to eight years in prison. He must also serve five years of supervised release after completing his prison term.

Investigators says he possessed almost 2,000 images of child pornography in 2011 and 2012.
