The following is an editorial from FOX6 WBRC-TV General Manager Lou
Kirchen, first aired on Tuesday, June 25, 2013:
Someone has to do it…not just talk about it but roll up their sleeves and get the work done. Isn't that the case with any task that must be completed? REV Birmingham is an organization dedicated to the revitalization of businesses and communities inside the city of Birmingham and in its surrounding neighborhoods, through collaboration, innovation, business development and recruitment.
They collaborate with the Birmingham business community and with neighborhood business associations, helping them organize, market, recruit and retain businesses. Their successes are real, making a difference in the lives of small business owners, of communities like Woodlawn, where in collaboration with other organizations, a block of empty store fronts have been filled with new businesses and where a new effort called social venture provides resources for fledgling businesses.
This Thursday evening highlights another of their efforts. The LightRails project will be launched at the 18th Street underpass in Birmingham. The newly refurbished underpass will provide a beautiful light show for those walking from Railroad Park into the city. The project calls for lighting the remaining three under passes as well.
Congratulations to REV Birmingham and their project partner the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham. REV Birmingham…working, collaboratively…investing in Birmingham's future.
