ANNISTON, AL (WBRC) -

A recorded statement from a capital murder suspect was played for the jury in a capital murder trial in Anniston.

Nicholas Smith is charged with capital murder in the 2011 robbery, kidnapping and murder of Wellborn Elementary School teacher Kevin Thompson.

Wednesday, the jury heard a video statement from Smith right after his arrest.

Smith describes using the debit cards to withdraw money from ATMs, and describes using his own Ford Explorer to dump Thompson's body.

Smith is heard admitting he stabbed Thompson and cut his throat. He also claimed one of the other defendants demanded he do it.

Two other suspects are awaiting trial in the case.
