Gadsden police are investigating a report of an assault from early Monday morning.
A woman told police that she found her 36-year-old husband lying on the roadside in the 2200 block of Forrest Avenue around 4:30 a.m. July 1.
The woman said she had been looking for her husband since around 6 p.m. the night before, when he left their home in the 2300 block of Cansler Avenue on foot and drinking alcohol.
Police and medics arrived to the scene and saw that the man was injured on the right side of his head and had a small puncture wound on his leg.
The victim reportedly told police he knew who attacked him but wouldn't give them the name of the suspects.
Police are not yet sure if this case is connected to another case that happened nearby, a burglary at a home in the 2300 block of Cansler Avenue.
A couple told police they woke up to find an intruder inside their home around 5 a.m. Monday. The suspect cut both the husband and wife before fleeing the scene. Neither of the injuries were serious.
Gadsden authorities are continuing to investigate both cases.
