The Tuscaloosa County School Board has a new home but what about it's former home?
The Searcy House was built in 1904 and the community is split on what to do with it. Some would like to demolish it while others would like to see it stay. The only certain thing is that the board wants to sell the building and a buyer could be identified by the end of the month.
The county's preservation society would like to see the Searcy House stay but they can't afford the $600,000 price tag. The society hopes a buyer could step in a restore the house.
The building goes on sale at public auction July 17 at 2 p.m.
