Tuscaloosa is known for the color crimson and it's police department now has some help catching people driving through a red light.
The red light photo enforcement system is already in place at 15th Street and 6th Avenue. Police say others will be installed around the city by August 1. Drivers caught by the cameras during the month of August will only get a warning but beginning Sept. 1, running a red light will cost $110.
Once a driver receives the violation in the mail, they can review it online at viewcitation.com by entering the pin number located on the ticket. The driver can watch a video of the violation and choose to pay it online, by phone or check. A driver can also contest the violation by mail or at a hearing.
This red light violation is considered a civil fine and will not affect a driver's insurance rates or add points on a driver's license.
