The battle continues between Enterprise residents and city leaders. Some upset residents packed Tuesday night's city council meeting claiming the city is profiting from the school system.
City leaders say they issued a $30 million bond to rebuild two schools that were destroyed by the 2007 tornado. To pay that money back the school system agreed to pay the city some $550,000 each for 14 year. Those payments should start in 2016.
The money would also help pay for projects set aside for the city.
The mayor says the contract also states that if the school system is unable to pay the $550,000 by 2016, the agreement can be re-evaluated.
