BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The Fairfield Police Department says they are investigating their first homicide of 2013.

Police say a body was found in the 4000 block of Court G around 5:45 a.m. on Friday morning by someone walking by. Investigators found the body to have suffered from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was identified as 47-year-old Harold Gorden. According to officers, Gordon lived at the home at one point, but the house is currently vacant. Investigators believe Gordon died sometime around 3:30 a.m. because neighbors stated they had heard gunshots around that time, but believed them to be fireworks.

Gordon's vehicle was located a few blocks away from the scene at an apartment complex on 41st Street. Officers report that a shell casing was found in the front seat. The victim is said to have often parked his car at the apartment before walking the neighborhood.

Police say this is not a random killing, but no suspects have been arrested. The case remains under investigation. If you have any information, please contact Fairfield police.
