Chrysler announced Wednesday that it will recall about over 800 thousand vehicles due to a potential active head-restraint problem and possible malfunctioning air bags according to multiple reports. The following vehicles are being recalled:
The first problem is the "potential faulty Microcontroller" which may keep a safety feature on board the vehicles from working correctly. "This safety feature, which entered the supply chain after the tsunami in Japan, caused a worldwide shortage," Chrysler Group said in a news release Wednesday. The second issue dealing with air bag deployment is being recalled because the air bag software component was not properly installed affecting its deployment.
According to the report, Chrysler does not know of any accidents or injuries related to the first issue. Chrysler did say however that only "minor" injuries have been reported due to the air bag issue.
