BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The search for a missing fisherman has focused on East Lake Park. Family members are waiting for answers as a diver searches the lake.

Authorities are not releasing the man's name, but say they are handling this as a missing person's case.

Members of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office dive team were out for several hours on Monday trying to locate the fisherman.

Authorities say they got a call from a man around 3:30 a.m. today saying he was concerned about his father.

His father had left the family a note around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night saying he was going to East Lake Park to go fishing.

When the son returned home early in the morning, he realized his dad wasn't there and he called authorities.

Birmingham police checked the park, found the man's truck still at that location, but it was locked and the man's cell phone was inside.

When they could not find the man, a dive team was called in to search the lake.

The case remains a missing person's case.
