BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the person they were searching for in East Lake Park on Monday.

The man has been identified as Glenn Paul Florence, 61. He was last seen Sunday night at his home in the 1900 block of West Ridge Drive near Huffman.

Florence's son left the home around 8:30 p.m. and when he returned around 12:30 a.m., his father wasn't there. The son found a note from his dad saying he had gone fishing at East Lake Park.

The son drove to the park and found his father's vehicle. He called Birmingham police and an officer searched the park with him that night, but didn't find him. Birmingham police said the man's truck was locked and his cell phone was inside.

The son filed a missing person report with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office sent a diver to search the lake at East Lake Park, but did not find any sign of Florence.

The sheriff's office is investigating Florence's disappearance as a missing persons case. Anyone with information about Florence's location is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 205-325-1450.
