JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A mother whose son was found walking alone on a street has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

A Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy found the two-year-old walking on English Knoll Lane around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 3.

Officers went to the child's home and arrested the mother, 26-year-old Ashley Rogers.

The child, who had a cut on his foot, was taken to Children's of Alabama hospital for observation.

Authorities say there were no other children in the home. DHR was notified about the situation.
