BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The coroner's office has confirmed the body found in East Lake Park Tuesday afternoon is that of a missing man.

Authorities say it's too early in the investigation to know if foul play was involved in Glenn Paul Florence's death. Florence, 61, was was last seen Sunday night at his home in the 1900 block of West Ridge Drive near Huffman.

Tuesday, Jefferson County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Randy Christian says a citizen walking around the lake at East Lake Park discovered the body of a man "fitting the description" of missing fisherman Florence.

Florence's son left their home around 8:30 p.m. Sunday and when he returned around 12:30 a.m., his father wasn't there. The son found a note from his dad saying he had gone fishing at East Lake Park.

The son drove to the park and found his father's vehicle. He called Birmingham police and an officer searched the park with him that night, but didn't find him. Birmingham police said the man's truck was locked and his cell phone was inside.

The son filed a missing person report with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office sent a diver to search the lake at East Lake Park, but did not find any sign of Florence.
