JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -
A Bessemer man has been arrested for selling stolen items on Craigslist.
Sheriff Mike Hale announced the arrest of 33-year-old Edmond Patrick Nelson Jr. on Wednesday. The sheriff's office said deputies were informed of a burglary in the McCalla area on the 5000 block of Rosser farms Drive last week.
Deputies discovered two new homes were burglarized between June 29 and June 30. Furniture and appliances were taken from those homes.
Later, a representative of the home building industry informed investigators that some of the stolen items were being advertised on Craigslist.
Undercover deputies set up a meeting in Hueytown and arrested Nelson. Inside Nelson's truck, deputies found a stainless steel gas range that was among the stolen items from one of the new homes.
Deputies searched Nelson's home and found more appliances, microwaves, refrigerators, power tools, flat screen TVs and a shotgun.
Nelson is charged with burglary, receiving stolen property and theft of property. He is free on $45,000 bond.
Detectives believe other suspects were involved in the burglaries. The investigation is on-going and the sheriff's office says they expect to file more charges.
