Some workers recently let go from Vanderbilt University Medical Center are raising their voices against the university's leadership.
Several former workers gathered Friday near the hospital to protest the cuts.
Vanderbilt says it is facing a tough healthcare environment and has terminated some employees for "performance issues."
The university says large layoffs are not occurring, but the former employees who gathered Friday say they felt mislead after evaluations were used as grounds to fire them.
Vanderbilt said last week it will look for ways to save $100 million this year by making things more efficient and slimming down support departments.
