TUSCUMBIA, AL (WAFF) -
Governor Robert Bentley appointed
three new members to the Alabama Music Hall of Fame on Tuesday.
The museum has fallen on
some tough times due to sweeping budget cuts in recent years. The museum announced
last week that it's closed until further notice.
Now there's an effort from
the governor and the department of tourism to get the museum back on its feet and
that includes new board members for the Music Hall of Fame. One of the new
board members is actually the tourism director himself, Lee Sentell.
He said there's some
momentum coming from Governor Bentley that the state must keep the Hall of Fame
going to show off the state's musical history.
"The governor wanted
to put a strong foundation under the Music Hall of Fame, so he recruited some
of the best people in marketing and finance and I think this bodes well for the
Music Hall of Fame," said Sentell.
