Cullman are residents who rely on NOAA Weather Radio as part of their storm preparedness kits and general weather information may have experienced difficulties getting a signal recently.
The NOAA Weather Radio antenna in the area is damaged and out of service. The radio is still transmitting, but the audio quality is poor, especially during periods of heavy rain.
The National Weather Service is working to repair the antenna, which could take more than a week.
During the outage, an alternative frequency that can be reached is WNG-642 out of Arab, transmitting on 162.525 mHz.
