State troopers say eight vehicles crashed on Interstate 459 this morning, shutting down all lanes of traffic for a little over an hour.
One of the vehicles involved was an ambulance with a patient inside. State troopers say the patient being transported wasn't hurt in the wreck, but the ambulance had minor damage.
State troopers aren't sure how all eight cars crashed, but they believe it was three separate accidents: two in the first accident, four in the second and two in the third.
One crash appeared to involve a car hitting the back of the ambulance. Behind that, six cars were crumpled together, including one car that flipped over.
State troopers say two people went to the hospital including one person with serious injuries. Troopers aren't sure about the status of the other person.
A woman involved in the crash with the flipped car said someone hit her from behind and pushed her into the truck in front of her. She said the woman in the flipped car flew through the windshield, but was talking when she left the scene.
The wreck happened around 8:20 a.m. and all lanes of traffic were back open by 9:40 a.m.
