No "obvious signs of foul play" were found on the body of a nude woman discovered behind a church, Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper said Tuesday.
A group of boys hiking in the woods came across the woman's body behind Crestway Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon.
The body has been identified as Stephanie Franshawn Williams, a 35-year-old woman from Birmingham.
Police Chief Roper said the Birmingham Police Department is working with the Jefferson County Coroner's Office to determine Williams' cause of death. He said the body has been examined, but the cause of death is still unknown.
Roper said they are not considering it a homicide case at this point. He said the woman was reported missing on Friday to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Birmingham Police Department.
