SEYMOUR, IN (WAVE) - The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced they will push both lanes of southbound Interstate 65 traffic to the right on Sunday evening, August 18, two miles south of Seymour between mile markers 48.5 and 45.5.
The work is the beginning of the $54.7 million repair and resurfacing project. Drivers can expect lane shifts and restrictions every week until the end of this year's construction season in November.
At 6 p.m. Sunday, August 18, southbound I-65 traffic will be directed into the right lane and onto the right shoulder. Crews will then begin bolstering the inside (left-side) shoulder for future changes in the traffic pattern. At the same time, full-depth concrete patches will be placed and construction of a median crossover (for later traffic switches) will begin.
Southbound traffic will return to normal lanes at 1 p.m. Friday, August 23. This shift in traffic pattern will occur Sunday-Friday for the next several weeks.
Operations may be delayed by inclement weather.
