DOG PARK - Red Mountain
Park will host volunteers and animal lovers who wish to help clear the future
site of Remy's Dog Park of overgrowth and invasive plants; last month, during
the highly-successful first Doggie Work Days series, two of the six acres were
cleared. Red Mountain Park staff will
draw for prizes; free tickets for the Adventure Area at the Park, which
features the Red Ore Zip Tour and the Hugh Kaul Beanstalk Forest.
Background on the recent
donation that made the dog park possible: Upon visiting Red Mountain Park's
1,200-acre development, Ken Jackson's excitement for the possibility of
"designated dog space" resulted in an initial $100,000 from his 'Mac
& Tosh' Donor Advised Fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham.
As plans for Remy's Dog Park (named for his late Jack Russell Shih Tzu mix,
Remy) progressed, Jackson surprised Red Mountain Park with an additional

- REV Birmingham (REV) is pleased to announce that more than 40 restaurants are
currently registered to participate in BRW 2013 presented by Regions Bank
taking place during the 10 days from Friday, August 16 - Sunday, August 25. BRW
will again celebrate the city's acclaimed culinary culture by offering incentives
for Birmingham-area residents to revisit their favorite restaurants and bars or
to experience recently opened venues for the first time. More than 40
participating restaurants will offer special two and/or three-course prix-fixe
lunch and/or dinner menus in the $5, $10, $15, $20 and $30 per person range
