TALLADEGA COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Talladega County investigators are asking for the public's help in solving the rape and robbery of a 67-year-old woman.

The sheriff's office released a sketch of the rape suspect Friday. They say this man attacked the woman in her home on Watts Road near Munford Sunday, July 28 around 3:45 p.m.

Investigators say a man wearing a white sleeveless shirt, tan cargo shorts, and sunglasses with a triangle design on each earpiece. He is described as a black male, 5' 8", 200 pounds and appears to be in his twenties or thirties.

They say he  knocked on the woman's door, claiming he was selling books.

Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore says the man then forced his way into the home, demanded money, and after receiving some money, demanded even more money.

Before the man left, Kilgore says the man raped and sodomized the woman. He was last seen leaving in a white four-door car.

"I can promise you, it's still in the forefront of everybody's mind here, and we, we have worked this case very diligently, and we'll continue to, until the perpetrator's identified," Talldega County Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore said.

Talladega County investigators have contacted other agencies about similar cases. Anyone with information should contact the Talladega County Sheriff's Office at 256-761-2141.
