BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

An attorney for youth evangelist Matt Pitt says he is working to get Pitt out of Shelby County Jail as quickly as possible.

Daniel Boman says he's filed a request to reinstate probation immediately. Pitt was taken to the Shelby County Jail after Jefferson County Sheriff's Office charged him with impersonating a peace officer. This charge affects Pitt's probation in Shelby County for the same charge.

Boman says Pitt has a cast on his left foot, has a shoulder injury and is scratched up around his head. The Birmingham Police says Pitt was pursued by arresting officers near Vulcan Park and his injuries are the result of that chase.

We also asked Boman about Pitt's demeanor in jail.

"He's still upbeat but he is...you can just tell that this has taken a toll on him. I don't want to say he's worried but he's...has a little anxiety because he reaches a large group of people and he is not able to do that right now," Boman said.

We asked Boman if Pitt has been given a drug test, which was ordered by a Shelby Count judge. Boman says Pitt isn't sure if that test was administered to him. Boman says a mental health evaluation was and the drug test may have been given during that time.

Boman says Pitt feels helpless and at the mercy of the court right now.
