Mountain Brook city leaders say they can function better, now that they have a new municipal building. They held an open house for the new complex Sunday.
The new complex is over 52,000 square feet and sits in the same location as the old municipal building. Three structures house the police and fire departments, as well as new council chambers, and the all city hall offices. Residents will be able to pay traffic tickets there and apply for building permits there.
"It's more efficiently laid out as far as the public and as far as our staff. It's kind of gives us a one stop shop for people doing business with the city of Mountain Brook," said Mountain Brook City Manager Sam Gaston.
The new complex has been open since April. Sunday was the official ribbon cutting and a chance for the public to tour the new facility.
