Birmingham police and fire crews are on the scene of a multi-vehicle accident on Monday morning. It happened around Interstate-59 southbound near the Roebuck exit.
Several vehicles, including a Birmingham police mounted patrol truck, were involved in the accident. At least one person was transported from the scene via ambulance. Deputy Chief Henry Irby with Birmingham PD has confirmed the officer to be unharmed.
Traffic reports say there is strong congestion around the area with one person reporting an hour's time needed to travel to Roebuck Parkway from Deerfoot Parkway. Drivers may want to seek an alternate route, if possible.
