Fayette County authorities have arrested four men in the last two months who they believe solicited minors for sex.
In three of the cases, authorities say they suspects allegedly used social media to meet the victims.
Investigators say more of these cases are coming to light because parents and gaurdians are paying attention to who their kids meet on social media. They also say in one case, they found two men trying to meet the same girl.
Fayette County Sheriff's deputies arrested William Byrd, Jackson Files and Dominique Wilson on charges of electronic solicitation and other related to meeting a minor for sex. They accuse Byrd and Files of trying to meet the same underage girl.
"The case started with another male as well. He was going to be in his early 20s, was making contact with this young lady. In the time we was investigating that, you has [sic] this other 41-year-old male that actually that started making contact with her," Sheriff Rodney Ingle said.
The child's parents gave authorities access to her Facebook page. Deputies say the two had multiple conversations with Byrd, including one where he wanted to meet the girl face-to-face.
Ingle says these cases show it's time for parents to be as social media savvy as their kids.
"Whoever the kid lives with is paying more attention to what's going on with the kid whether it be social media, Facebook," Ingle said.
All three suspects remain in the Fayette County Jail. Fayette Police also arrested a man on similar charges last month. In that case, the suspect convinced a 13-year-old to send him lewd pictures.
