The Bibb County Sheriff's Department says that $4.5 million worth of marijuana will never make it to the streets.
Deputies assisted the Alabama State Troopers Marijuana Eradication Task Force Wednesday as they flew through the county looking for marijuana plants.
The plants were found near Alabama Highway 25 in the Six Mile community around 1:30 p.m. Deputies and task force members removed approximately 2,282 plants whose estimated street value is more than $4.5 million.
Deputy Sheriff Kevin Lawrence says the plants, which ranged in size from 12 to 18 feet tall, were covered with diesel fuel and destroyed by fire.
Lawrence says no one was near the plants when they arrived and no one has been arrested. No other plants were found during Wednesday's flyover.
