The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department says they have arrested two people after discovering a meth lab.
According to deputies, a complaint was made around 2 p.m. on Thursday about a neighbor stealing electricity in the 7800 block of Main Street in Adger. The victim said the neighbor had connected a cord to an outside power outlet to run power to their home.
At the suspect's home, a female resident came to the door while holding a small child. She said her boyfriend has connected the cord because they had no power. Deputies noticed "deplorable living conditions" inside of the home, including trash piled on the floor and dog feces lying around the home. A 3-year-old and 4-year-old were living in the home with their mother.
The woman's boyfriend was located in a bedroom of the residence. He admitted to connecting the cord and was arrested. While in the bedroom, deputies discovered an active meth lab.
The children were removed from the home and Narcotics Unit deputies were called in to process the lab. Several old meth "cooks" were also discovered during the cleanup. The female suspect directed deputies to an additional active meth lab at a vacant residence next door.
The children were placed in protective custody by DHR.
24-year-old Joseph Blake Price and 23-year-old Miracle Renee Watson were charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance and chemical endangerment of a child. Price is also charged with theft of services. They are both being held in the Jefferson County Jail.
