Barbour County Sheriff LeRoy Upshaw says an arrest has been made in connection to the sexual assualt cases of two women.
Upshaw says 58-year-old Clayton resident Benjamin Phillips is charged with one
count of rape 1st degree, one count of attempted rape 1st degree and one count
of assault 3rd degree.
The arrest comes after two women who were guests in Phillips' home on September 1 say he assaulted them. The vicims were able to get out of the residence and called 911
from a neighbor's home, Sheriff Upshaw says, but one of the victims was said to have been assaulted by
the suspect as they were trying to leave.
Phillips was arrested while he was at work and booked into the Barbour County Jail under bonds totaling $20,000.
