September is National Recovery Month, which celebrates people who have overcome drug and alcohol addiction.
Recovery Fest Nashville held a free event at Cumberland Park Saturday afternoon to increase the visibility and attention that recovery deserves.
Mayor Karl Dean and Channel 4's own Demetria Kalodimos attended the event, to celebrate sobriety and give hope to those struggling with addiction.
"I think we believe insecond chances, because most people, if they're shown a path and given ahelping hand, they're going to choose a life that is positive and healthy forthemselves and their loved ones," Mayor Dean told the crowd.
He went on to say that heand the city are proud of people who are living a life of recovery.
