A 91-year-old woman says she was told, "move over or you're going to die" during a recent carjacking attempt in Northport.
Louise Roberts say she got the shock of her life last week when investigators say someone tried to carjack her in the parking lot of the Northport Walmart in the middle of the afternoon.
"He said, 'If you don't move over, you're going to die," Roberts said.
The suspect said that three times. Robert says the would-be robber brushed up against her and she believes he had a gun in his pocket but the great-grandmother held on to her keys and wouldn't give in.
"I was holding on to it and fighting back as hard as I could to hold on to my keys. In fact, he broke off some," Robert said. "And when he grabbed those I started yelling."
Roberts says her yelling is what saved her life.
"I yelled, 'Help, help,' and that's when he let go of my hand and scooted away and got in his car and left," she said.
As one can imagine, this ordeal has left Roberts shaken up but she says she's a strong woman.
"To fight off a person that was going to kill me...I guess God had to help me to do it...I just know," she said.
Roberts calls the suspect a coward and she hopes that he's behind bars soon. Northport Police say they have an idea of who may have done this, but they aren't ready to make any arrests.
