The Montgomery Housing Authority is under fire from a landlord who claims he was the victim of theft and fraud.
Wes Stran rents out government-subsidized housing to low-income families. As a Section-8 landlord, Stran deals closely with the housing authority. And he claims, because of that relationship, he's lost more than a thousand dollars.
In 2012, an outside audit revealed the housing authority did not fully comply with all of HUD's Section-8 policies.

Stran took his claims directly to the housing authority and to WSFA 12 News.
Stran, 75, says to date, he has yet to receive any money from January 2012 from Section-8. He says last year, not only did a Montgomery Housing Authority official steal nearly $1,300 from him, but also forced him to sign a fraudulent lease for a former tenant at this property on Cherry Street.
"They said I either had to sign it or I wouldn't get paid and I would have to come kick this man out because he wasn't going to be able to pay the rent," Stran explained.
He says he filed a complaint with the deputy director of the MHA just last week and says he received $900 of his money back from another property, but not for this property. He went before the MHA Board Tuesday in an effort to get some answers.
"I have all the documents right here in my hand," Stran says confidently, hoping to shed light on what he calls corruption from one official who he says has given the entire program a bad name.
"And they've all been great people, helping poor, innocent people who need help and housing and safe housing," Stran says.
He took his written complaint and proof to the housing authority's deputy executive director where the board told him to submit those documents to the executive director, Evette Hester.
Hester tells WSFA 12 News she just learned of the complaint two days ago but she promised to conduct a full investigation and report the findings at the next board meeting.
