M-POWER Ministries is holding is third annual Taste of the City fundraising event starting Thursday, Oct. 3.
For four Thursdays in October, four Birmingham restaurants will offer special deals and donate a portion of their proceeds to M-POWER Ministries, a faith-based social services ministry located in the Avondale area.
M-POWER offers a variety of services including health, education and literacy programs.
This year's schedule of events:
Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m. - Little Savannah offers a Southern-style meal, bluegrass band Shades Mountain Air and an auction for a custom painting by artist Dirk Walker. Tickets: $85
Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. - Act of Congress is performing at Bottletree Cafe. Justin Cross will open and Birmingham Mountain Radio will emcee the show. Tickets: $15
Oct. 17 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Red Cat Coffeehouse will donate 20 percent of their sales to M-POWER Ministries.
Oct. 24 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. - Silvertron Cafe will donate 20 percent of their dinner sales to M-POWER.
In addition to the Thursday events, this year's Taste of the Magic City is also offering an online auction between Oct. 10-24 with items like private cooking lessons, food gift baskets and restaurant gift certificates up for auction.
