The Talladega County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that a store owner was killed on Friday morning after being shot in a robbery attempt.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the robbery took place at the corner of County Road 32 and Ironaton Road.
Talladega Police are investigating the case and have released few details on the shooting as they continue to interview witnesses.
Chief Jason Busby says that the store owner was deceased when police arrived on the scene. The suspect, who may be a juvenile, was also shot during the incident. The condition of the suspect is unknown.
Tina McGarty works at a gas station down the road from where the shooting took place.
"It's very scary because it's all happening right in here. Like three within a month and two within the last week," she said of recent crimes.
